Genevieve P. Kanter, PhD's Bio
Genevieve P. Kanter, PhD, is an economist whose research focuses on regulatory issues in biomedical technologies; industry relationships and industry influence in medicine; and reimbursement models in health care.
Recent research has focused on vertical integration and contracting in health care; the adoption of new cardiovascular, precision medicine, and telehealth technologies; the approval and regulation of vaccines; the effect of public disclosure of physician-industry relationships; and conflicts of interest at the FDA and other health agencies.
She holds faculty appointments in the Division of General Internal Medicine and the Department of Medical Ethics and Health Policy at the University of Pennsylvania Perelman School of Medicine, and is Director of the Wharton Public Policy Certificate Program.
In addition to her institutional appointments, Professor Kanter serves on the Medicare Evidence Development & Coverage Advisory Committee (MEDCAC) and is a member of the Advisory Committee for the AcademyHealth Health Economics Interest Group.
She received a PhD in Economics and in Sociology from the University of Chicago and completed an NIH postdoctoral fellowship at Princeton University and research fellowships at Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard University.
