A Value-Based System Where Healthcare Providers are Accountable for Outcomes Will Benefit Patients

The increasing pressure placed on healthcare systems by aging populations and a growing prevalence of chronic diseases threatens the sustainability of current fee for service models of care. In Asia, some health systems are increasingly looking towards value-based care as an option. CESR’s Joanne Yoong wrote an op-ed on this issue, which discusses the movement towards value-based care in countries such as Singapore, where existing high performance is no longer a guarantee of future sustainability.
