Seminar Series – Jorge Luis Garcia

High-Quality Early-Childhood Education at Scale: Evidence from a Multisite Randomized Trial

Jorge Luis Garcia, PhD, is an applied micro-economist working at the intersection of labor and development economics. His work aims to quantify the economic fundamentals underlying the causal effects of major policies to inform their design and evaluation. He aims to generate scientific knowledge that contributes to creating socially efficient public policy that tackles poverty, both domestically and internationally.

The subjects of his current projects are poor women and their children, either in the US or developing countries. Commonalities in the development of children and the decision-making of poor individuals permit a cohesive agenda, studying subjects who live in different contexts, but face similar constraints and scarcities.
