Michael A. Mussallem

Michael A. Mussallem is currently the non-executive Chairman of the Board, after serving as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Company since 2000, until his retirement in 2023.

Prior to 2000, he held a variety of positions with increasing responsibility in engineering, product development and senior management at Baxter International Inc., including Group Vice President of its Cardiovascular business from 1994 to 2000, and Group Vice President of its Biopharmaceutical business from 1998 to 2000.

Mr. Mussallem received his bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering and an honorary doctorate degree from the Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology. He is a trustee of the University of California, Irvine Foundation and the Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology in Terre Haute, Indiana. Mr. Mussallem is the former chairman of the board of directors of both AdvaMed and the California Healthcare Institute (CHI). In 2022, Mussallem was elected as a member to the National Academy of Engineering, in recognition of the impact of transcatheter heart valves on the health of patients worldwide.
